Common business credit report errors

Vendors check business credit. So do landlords, insurers, and lenders. Inaccurate business credit information can quietly limit your opportunities even when operations are strong.

What to review in your business credit profile

Read the legal name, DBA, EIN, addresses, phone, industry code, years in business, and every trade line. Wrong addresses are more than cosmetic; they can mix your file with another company on the same street or a prior tenant. Duplicate business credit files happen when a bureau creates a second identity after a move, a rebrand, or a sloppy vendor report.

Business credit repair vs. business credit accuracy

“Repair” language that promises deletion of accurate negatives is a problem. Accurate history belongs on a report. Accuracy work is different: you document that a balance is wrong, an account is not yours, a public record is mismatched, or an address is stale. Then you send a complete package, keep copies, and calendar follow-up.

How to document a dispute: identify the exact field, attach the source document (articles, EIN letter, paid-in-full letter, lease), write a short factual narrative, and track the bureau’s response. We do not guarantee outcomes. We do help you prepare a file a bureau can actually process. See Business Credit Report Review and our disclaimer.
